3-Day Tsavo East Fly In Safari

Tsavo East National Park, established in April 1948, holds the distinction of being one of Kenya’s oldest and largest national parks, covering an expansive area of approximately 13,747 square kilometers. Located in the southeastern part of Kenya, Tsavo East forms part of the greater Tsavo Conservation Area alongside Tsavo West, and together, they create one of the largest protected wilderness areas in the world.

DAY 1: NAIROBI TO TSAVO WEST

Your safari begins with a scenic afternoon flight from Wilson Airport in Nairobi to Kilaguni Airstrip in Tsavo West National Park. Upon landing in the late afternoon, you’ll be greeted by your guide and transferred directly to your lodge,for check in, refresh and relaxation before heading out on an evening game drive. As the sun sets and temperatures cool, the park comes alive with activity. This is the perfect time to spot nocturnal species, predators preparing for the hunt, and classic Tsavo wildlife like red elephants, giraffes, zebras, and lions against the golden light. Return to the lodge after nightfall for a delicious dinner and a relaxing, surrounded by the peaceful sounds of the African bush.

DAY 2: TSAVO WEST NATIONAL PARK

Start your day with a hearty breakfast at your lodge or tented camp in Tsavo West National Park before embarking on an early morning hot air balloon safari. Drift silently over the park’s stunning volcanic hills, lava flows, and vast savannah plains, with views often extending to Mount Kilimanjaro and the Chyulu Hills. From above, spot iconic wildlife including red elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, impalas, lions, and numerous bird species, especially near water sources like Mzima Springs. After landing, enjoy light refreshments in the bush before joining your guide for a mid-morning game drive. Explore Tsavo West’s diverse habitats and seek out more wildlife while learning about the area’s unique geology and ecology. Return to your lodge around midday for lunch and some relaxation, perhaps watching animals at nearby waterholes. In the late afternoon, set out on a sunset game drive, when the golden light enhances the landscape and wildlife activity increases. End your day with dinner and a peaceful evening under the African stars, surrounded by the sounds of the wilderness.

DAY 3: TSAVO WEST TO NAIROBI

After an early breakfast at your lodge or camp in Tsavo West, enjoy a final morning game drive to catch any last glimpses of wildlife in the park. Return to the lodge around midday for a relaxing lunch, soaking in the peaceful surroundings one last time. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to Kilaguni Airstrip for your scheduled flight back to Wilson Airport in Nairobi. Upon arrival in Nairobi, you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel, marking the end of your memorable Tsavo West safari experience.
